Chandelier with Remote Control: How to Choose

A chandelier with remote control lets you switch the light on, change its tone and brightness without getting up from the bed or sofa. In our catalogue a remote is included with almost all LED ceiling chandeliers and all ceiling fans with light. You will find them with the “Remote” filter.

What the remote can do

  • switch the light on and off
  • change the light tone from warm 3000 K to cool 6500 K
  • adjust the brightness — not on every model

Almost all our chandeliers with remote control can change the tone, and about two thirds can also change the brightness. If adjustable brightness matters to you, check the “Dimming” row in the product description: it should say “Yes”.

Infrared or radio remote

An infrared (IR) remote works like a TV remote: you must point it at the chandelier, with nothing between the remote and the light. A radio remote (for example 2.4 GHz) works from anywhere in the room and does not need to be pointed at the light. Our LED chandeliers have an infrared remote; the flat LED chandelier with fan has a radio remote. The remote type is shown in the product description, in the “Remote control” row.

Remote and wall switch

A chandelier with remote control is connected like an ordinary one — to the wall switch, and no special switch is needed. For the remote to work, the switch must be on: if you switch it off, the chandelier has no power and does not receive the signals from the remote. So it is convenient to leave the switch on and control the light with the remote.

What else to check

  • Brightness — on our chandeliers with remote control it is most often 5400–10800 lm, so adjustable brightness is useful in a bedroom
  • Size — choose the diameter by the rule (length + width) × 8 cm
  • Height — more than half of our LED chandeliers are up to 10 cm tall, so they also suit low ceilings

Where a chandelier with remote control helps most

In a bedroom you can switch the light off from bed. In a living room you can switch on a warmer, dimmer light for the evening and full light for guests. In a kids room, bright light is useful for homework and soft light in the evening. Browse bedroom chandeliers, living room chandeliers, kids room chandeliers and all LED chandeliers.

No, an ordinary wall switch will do. It must be on when you use the remote.
