Chandeliers

Chandeliers in the svet.lv catalogue are VARGO ceiling lights for flats and houses, from compact models for hallways to wide chandeliers for living rooms. More than half are LED chandeliers with a built-in light source, and almost all of those come with a remote and adjustable colour temperature. The rest are chandeliers with an E27 or GX53 base — bulbs are not included.

How to choose a chandelier for a room

• Living room chandeliers — usually the widest and most powerful. An LED model with a remote gives bright, neutral light by day and warmer, dimmer light in the evening.
• Bedroom chandeliers — warm, calm light; with a remote you can switch the chandelier off without getting out of bed.
• Kitchen ceiling lights and dining room chandeliers — neutral light that shows the worktop and the table well. Pendant lights also work above a table.
• Hallway ceiling lights — compact, flat models, some with two GX53 or E27 bases.
• Kids’ room chandeliers — white LED chandeliers whose light tone can be adjusted for play, study and sleep.

What size of chandelier you need

Chandelier widths in the catalogue range from about 18 to 94 cm. A simple rule of thumb: add the room’s length and width in metres and multiply by 8 — that is a suitable chandelier diameter in centimetres. For a 3 × 4 m room that is about 56 cm, for a 4 × 5 m room about 72 cm.

For low ceilings, choose a chandelier that sits flush against the ceiling. More than half of our chandeliers are no taller than 15 cm, and many are even lower than 10 cm. Dimensions are given in each product description. See also: how to choose a chandelier and lumens per square metre.

LED chandeliers or chandeliers for bulbs

In LED chandeliers the light source is built in: there are no bulbs to buy or replace. Most have an infrared remote, a colour temperature from 3000 to 6500 K and adjustable brightness. Power ranges from about 20 W for compact models to several hundred watts for large chandeliers — the “Power” filter above the list helps you find the right one.

In chandeliers with a base, you choose the bulbs yourself. E27 is the standard screw-in bulb; GX53 is a flat bulb that makes the light lower. Bulbs are not included; an E27 LED bulb can be ordered together with the chandelier in Bulbs and other products.

Light colour and the remote

3000 K is a warm, yellowish light for relaxing, around 4000 K is neutral light for the kitchen and for work, and 6000–6500 K is cool daylight. In an LED chandelier with a remote you can change the tone and brightness at any time. The infrared remote works when pointed at the chandelier. Colour and materials

Most chandeliers are white. There are also black ones, black with wood or gold details, chrome and grey. The most common body is metal with an acrylic diffuser; there are also models with glass and wooden elements.

Almost all our chandeliers have an IP20 protection rating — they are made for dry rooms, not for a bathroom.
